Total Design-The Enduring Legacy in Contemporary Spaces

Brought to you by Knoll and hosted by Estilo, this exclusive panel event in Adelaide will explore the legacy of Knoll, one of the iconic brands within the MillerKnoll collective, and its continued influence on contemporary interiors and workplaces.

The discussion will centre on Florence Knoll’s pioneering concept of Total Design, examining how it shaped modern architecture and interiors, how Knoll’s heritage of craftsmanship and innovation continues to influence design, and how authenticity and sustainability remain key pillars for designers today. The discussion will be moderated by Alice Blackwood, who will guide the conversation to uncover insights from leading Adelaide designers on Knoll’s lasting impact.

  • Rosina Di Maria, Director - Woods Bagot

    Rosina Di Maria

    Woods Bagot Director, Global Board Member and Adelaide Studio Leader, Rosina Di Maria is an internationally renowned interior designer with a portfolio of award-winning work spanning Australia, Europe, and Asia. As an industry leader, Rosina is a regular design juror, speaker and Board Member. Rosina holds a position on the Property Council of Australia SA Division Council and is a national judge for their awards program. An advocate of the arts, Di Maria is ministerially appointed to the board of the JamFactory. In 2023, she was nominated as South Australian 'Woman of the Year' and in 2024, was recognised as an Ambassador for Good Design Australia, an honorary title given to a select group of individuals who make a positive impact on the design profession. Recently, Rosina was made a Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia - in recognition of her outstanding leadership and as a pioneer of the design industry. Rosina has led award-winning projects across sectors and is a strong collaborator. Notable projects include Deloitte, BHP's global transformation, Journey Beyond's Luxury Rail fleet upgrade and Tarrkarri - Centre for First Nations Cultures in collaboration with New York practice Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

  • Jon Goulder, Founder & Designer - Jon Goulder Studio

    Jon Goulder

    Jon Goulder continues a four-generation legacy of producing exquisite, refined furniture. Each piece is handmade from the highest quality materials - an investment meant to be passed down through generations. A master craftsperson, he creates one-off pieces, limited editions, and prototypes by hand in his Adelaide studio on Kaurna Land. Defined by symmetry between craft and design, he is known for unique processes in leather, textiles, and wood. His works are featured globally and held in the permanent collections of almost every state gallery and the National Gallery of Australia, His work concurrently spans exhibitions, commissions, collaborations, installations, architectural projects and licensed agreements. He passionately maintains the designer-maker journey across Australia, America, and Europe.

  • Dave Bickmore, Director - Studio Gram

    Dave Bickmore

    David graduated from the University of South Australia with a Master of Architecture in 2009. Dave co-founded studio gram in early 2014 with Graham Charbonneau and today the studio has grown into a team of 9 collaborators with work ranging from small hospitality and retail fit-outs, to highly detailed residential and commercial projects throughout Australia and Asia. A definite relationship between Architecture, interiors, and object has been the driving force behind the conception of his projects with a focus on crafting the highest quality environments, rich with narrative and layered experiential qualities, amplifying the particular environmental, social, cultural and economic conditions of a site. Whilst his project work, and that of the studio's, has been awarded Nationally and Internationally on multiple occasions, his personal contribution to the Architectural profession has been recognised as the recipient of the UniSA AIA Advancement of Architecture Prize, the Jack Hobbs McConnell Fellowship, the SA Emerging Architect as well as being included in Mezzanine Magazines 'Top 20 under 40 designers' in Australia, and Advertisers list of most influential South Australians. Prize, The Dave's ongoing contribution to the profession was officially recognised with Dave being elevated to Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects in 2024. In 2021, Dave was appointed to the South Australian Government's Office for Design and Architecture - Design Review Panel.

  • Alexandra Ramundi, Workplace Strategist - MillerKnoll

    Alexandra Ramundi

    Alexandra draws on her experience to help clients uncover the unique needs of their organizations, developing purpose-driven strategies that enable employees to perform at their best. She focuses on creating impactful spaces that support company culture and address the evolving needs of office environments and employee work styles. She holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from Toronto Metropolitan University. During her time at Miller Knoll, Alexandra has held various roles within the design and sales teams, providing her with a comprehensive view of the industry. Additionally, she combines her knowledge of the North American market with a global perspective to inform her insights and approach. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Alexandra recently relocated to Singapore with her husband. She is enjoying life in Asia and exploring all it has to offer. From her central location, she travels to various cities, countries, and islands, hiking and sampling new foods along the way. As for the weather, she's happy to be escaping the Canadian winters.

  • Alice Blackwood, Director - AB Strategic Storytelling

     Alice Blackwood

    Alice and Blackwood is a strategic storyteller and experienced public speaker. For 20 years she's passionately advocated for the Australian architecture and design industry, her roles spanning that of design editor, journalist, communications strategist, and program director. She served as Editor on Indesign magazine Indesignlive.com until 2023. She has been integral in establishing numerous major platforms that recognise and celebrate the region's most exciting architecture and design, elevating its industry leaders into the spotlight. She has contributed in a programming and strategic communications capacity on major international design festivals, the INDE.Awards, and the Artedomus and The Local Project's (Emerging) Designer Awards. 2024 she was MC for the ULI Australian Conference and, in 2023, an MC and Host for the INDE.Awards. continues to play an active role within the Australian design and media landscape as a moderator, MC, judge, commentator, mentor and advisor.
